PhotoQuest Rules & Regulations

  1. The 2011 OneAsia PhotoQuest Competition (Contest) is open to entrants of all skill levels. Employees of ASIAN Geographic Magazines Pte Ltd (including field editors, contest judges and employees of its subsidiaries, partners and affiliates), their immediate family members (parents, spouse, children, siblings and their respective spouses) and persons living in the same households of such individuals (whether or not related) are not eligible to enter or win a prize.

  2. Only one (1) digital photograph may be submitted per registration (S$10 fee) and must conform to the guidelines of the Contest to be provided at the start of the PhotoQuest. Registration and Submission details are outlined on the web site (http://www.oneasiafest.com/photoquest-2011.phtml).

  3. By entering the Contest, entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph. When photographing the work of others, it must be as an object in its environment and not a full-frame close up of another person's art. Any discrepancy in entrant’s particulars may result in disqualification of entry.

  4. If the photograph includes other people, you must be prepared to provide a signed written personal release from all persons who appear in the photograph submitted, authorising use of the photograph as provided below in Section 7. You do not need to provide the release with your entry. If you win, we will contact you if a release is needed. If you are unable to provide a personal release upon request by ASIAN Geographic, your entry may be disqualified.

  5. The photograph must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of ASIAN Geographic, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.

  6. Photograph manipulation is limited to:
    1. Tonal and colour corrections (no dodging or burning allowed);
    2. Moderate sharpening (no blurring of backgrounds or adjustment of saturation allowed);
    3. Repairing faulty pixels or damage from digital images; and
    4. Minor cropping (limited to 10% of the original image).
    5. No post-production filters allowed.
    6. Failure to comply with rules on photograph manipulation will result in disqualification of entry.
  7. By participating, all entrants grant ASIAN Geographic the right to publish the Contest entries to congratulate the winners and promote future events. ASIAN Geographic will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such use in any media now or hereafter known, without restriction, including commercially using it to the fullest extent possible, including but not limited to ASIAN Geographic’s publications, press releases, marketing and promotions.

  8. By participating, all entrants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless ASIAN Geographic and each of its respective subsidiaries, partners and affiliates, as well as their employees, officers, directors and representatives, from any claims, losses and damages arising out of their participation in this Contest or any Contest-related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any prize awarded hereunder. Staff and judges are not responsible for loss or any damage to photographic submissions. Participants also agree:
    1. To be bound by these Official Rules and Regulations;
    2. The decisions of the Judges are final on all matters relating to the Contest; and
    3. ASIAN Geographic may use the winning photograph along with the winner's name, photograph, likeness and/or voice in any publicity or advertising relating to the Contest or future promotions without compensation or approval.
